Concepcion appliance firm seeks game-changing innovation
Airconditioning and refrigeration appliance maker Concepcion Industrial Corp. (CIC) is gearing up for the rise of an interconnected smart product economy.
In a statement, the Concepcion-Araneta family’s CIC said it has inked a partnership with Ionics Inc. to develop the next generation of smart products using Internet of Things (IoT) technology.
With the IoT, air-conditioning units will have the ability to be controlled by mobile phones to provide real-time energy usage and to automatically react to changing environmental conditions in real-time.
The move is in line with CIC’s green footprint movement by enabling users and buildings to be more energy efficient in their heating, ventilation and airconditioning usage.
“With the IoT platform, CIC is taking a measured approach to fully prepare for the new and emerging market. Unprecedented insights into how our products perform and how our services could be remotely and more effectively rendered will have a direct impact on the lives of our customers and a positive effect in our environment protection,” said CIC chief executive officer Joseph Raul Concepcion.
Ionics chairman and CEO Larry Qua, for his part, said the company has cutting edge expertise in the design and manufacturing of edge computing, communication and sensor technologies.
The revolution of products into intelligent, connected devices is radically changing companies and competition as it allows people to work more productively and in less repetitive ways.
