PLDT eyes campus-like HQ
Fresh from a series of high-level meetings with Silicon Valley leaders in the United States, bilyonaryo Manuel
V. Pangilinan reiterated his desire to relocate the entire PLDT Group into a “flat office environment.”
PLDT has disclosed yesterday it plans to have a joint venture with a property firm to redevelop and sell its Makati properties, mainly the Ramon Cojuangco Bldg. along Makati Avenue, and the adjacent Makati General Office which long housed the telco giant’s main offices.
“We are not doing it because we want to sell the property. We are doing it because in digital age, you really have to have a flat office environment,” MVP said.
For the past year, the company has been scouting for a sprawling property either north or south of Metro Manila to accommodate the new headquarters similar to those built by tech giants Google and Facebook in the US.
The Gotianuns last year supposedly offered a parcel of land that could suit PLDT’s requirements within Filinvest City, its township in Alabang, south of Makati City.
But a study conducted by its human resources department showed majority of its employees reside north of Makati.
Prior to this, MVP has set its sights on acquiring a high-rise building along Ayala Avenue developed by bilyonaryo Roberto V. Ongpin’s Alphaland for the telco’s new corporate headquarters but talks have collapsed.
