Trans-Asia Petroleum mulls LNG import terminal

TRANS-ASIA Petroleum Corp. is planning to build an import terminal for liquefied natural gas possibly in Sual, Pangasinan, while doing a pre-feasibility study for its venture into the midstream energy sector.

Francisco L. Viray, Trans-Asia Petroleum president and chief executive officer, told reporters on Tuesday that the company was looking at a facility that can store half a million tons per annum of LNG or enough to power a 500-megawatt (MW) gas-fired plant.

“As early as 2018, the project would be completed,” he said on the sidelines of the company’s annual stockholders’ meeting.
