Sy family eyes Harrizon Plaza property
Integrated property developer SM Prime Holdings Inc., of bilyonaryo Henry Sy Sr. is training its sights on the 10-hectare Harrizon Plaza property owned by the local government of Manila City.
SM Prime chief finance officer Jeffrey Lim said the company was in talks with the City of Manila to acquire the land, where the country’s first modern shopping mall was established.
Located in Manila’s tourist belt, Harrison Plaza is one of the few remaining large tracts of government land in Manila.
Harrison Plaza first opened its doors to the public in 1976. it temporarily closed for renovation from 1982 to 1984 then reopened with SM as the main tenant of the commercial center.
The sale of the property will provide the City of Manila additional revenues.
