Jose Antonio is new special envoy to US

 

With just a day left before the US presidential elections, President Duterte has named real estate magnate Jose E.B. Antonio as the country’s special envoy to Washington.

Antonio has business dealings with tycoon and US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump via the ultra-luxurious trump Tower Manila, a $150 million 820-foot tall skyscraper located at the 3.4-hectare Century City in the Makati central business district.

Century Properties Corp. said Antonio would remain as the company’s chairman and CEO.

“His mission is to enhance business ties and strengthen the economic affairs between the two countries,” Century Properties said in a stock exchange filing.
Antonio, named among the Philippines’ 40 richest people, has been building and selling high-rise luxury homes for almost 30 years.

He served as special envoy to China in 2005. He is also the founder and chairman of the Philippine-China Business Council.
