Gokongwei expands growing retail portfolio

 

Robinsons Retail Holdings’ aggressive expansion has jacked up its gross floor area to more than one million square meters by the end of September, representing an increase of 9.2 percent from the previous year.

The company ended the first three quarters of the year with a total store count of 3,405 stores, including1,864 The Generics Pharmacy stores.

The group is the country’s largest multi-format retail company. It comprises Robinsons Supermarket, Handyman, Daiso, South Star Drug, Robinsons Appliances, True Value, Ministop, and a host of international fashion apparel brands such as Topshop, Topman, Dorothy Perkins, Warehouse and G200.

Robinsons Retail booked a net income of P3.3 billion in the nine months to September this year, up 11.1 percent year on year on the back of a 16.6 percent rise in sales. The growth was brought about by the robust same store sales growth, new store openings, and sales from The Generics Pharmacy.

It spent P4.29 billion during the period, representing 85.7 percent of the full year budget of P5 billion.
