Ayala Foundation event makes Leni sentimental

Painfully shy as a child, Vice President Leni Robredo turned to books and discovered bottomless hope.

During the turnover ceremony of the Ayala Foundation’s “100 for 200,” VP Leni recalled her childhood days as a bookworm and found that books “allow a child’s mind to soar and nourished by ideas rather than scarred by his personal circumstances.”

Robredo further emphasized that reading books provide hope to the less privileged. “The Filipino child understands of human nature and his own human potential will define his belief in our collective ability to claim our greatness as a nation. Reading enlarge their world and more importantly their hearts. These are gifts for a lifetime,” she said.

Through the foundation’s effort, a total of 200,000 books will be distributed to 200 public elementary schools. #
