Andrew Tan gobbles up Domecq brandy
A group comprising Emperador Inc. of Bilyonaryo Andrew Tan and Spanish winery Gonzalez Byass, has signed a deal to quire Pernod Ricard’s Domecq brand for an undisclosed sum.
Pernod Ricard sold its Domecq brandy and sherry business to Bodega Las Copas, a joint venture between Emperador and Gonzalez Byass, to focus on its bigger international brands such as Absolut vodka and Chivas Regal scotch.
The sale includes the brand portfolio of Mexican brandies Don Pedro, Presidente and Azteca de Oro, as well as the winery related to the production of Mexican wines in Ensenada, together with relevant inventories in several markets including Spain, Belgium, Netherlands, and the US.
Emperador is the largest maker of brandy in the world based in Asia with a leadership position in the Philippines and with presence in 100 countries.
