Uytengsu says Jr. NBA helps encourage gender equality
Bilyonaryo Wilfred Uytengsu, Jr. said that Jr. NBA plays an important rule for his basketball team Aces, including placing emphasis on the group’s gender equality advocacy efforts.
The Alaska Milk President and CEO said in a report by Business World that the National Basketball Association’s global youth participation program has been a great avenue for Aces to inspire the youth, while it highlights Alaska’s efforts to propagate gender equality.
“I believe it’s a great collaboration between two fantastic organizations, who are committed to the youth in particular. We are no strangers to basketball being part of the PBA for a long time now but this also allows us to use the Aces as an icon and aspirational part of basketball, giving back to the youth, to the community. And the NBA gives us that expertise,” the bilyonaryo said in an interview.
“It also highlights Alaska’s emphasis on gender equality, encouraging more girls to play basketball and providing them opportunities through the Jr. WNBA,” he added.
The Jr. NBA program is currently celebrating its 10th year in the country, which has been successful since its initial holding in 2007, Business World reported.
