FNI unit unfazed by Mindanao martial law

Platinum Group Metals Corp. said its business as usual for its mine in Surigao del Norte despite the political crisis in Mindanao.

In a statement, Global Ferronickel Holdings Inc, assured the public that subsidiary PGMC continued to meet its commitments despite President Duterte’s martial law declaration.

PGMC’s mine located in Cagdianao, Claver, Surigao Del Norte, posted an increase of more than tenfold in production in justa period of five years. From less than 500,000 wet metric tons in 2007, PGMC shipped 5.9 million wet metric tons in 2012.

President Duterte declared martial law for a period of 60 days in Mindanao following clashes between government forces and the Maute Group in downtown Marawi City, Lanao del Sur.

PGMC said it joins the country in seeking a peaceful and speedy resolution of the crisis.
