Henry Sy’s SMIC leads 8 PH firms in Forbes Global 2000 latest list

 

Eight Philippine companies made it to the list of Forbes’ biggest, most powerful and valuable publicly-listed companies in the world in 2017,

Tycoon Henry Sy-led SM Investments Corp. ranked first among Philippine-based companies, placing. 823rd with a total market capitalization of $17.8 billion.

SMIC is a holding firm with varied interests in retail, banking., and real estate

The American magazine said the ranking is based on a mix of four metrics: profits, sales, assets and market value.

The seven other Philippine firms that have found a place in the exclusive club of ‘The Forbes Global 2000 are BDO Unibank (no. 1018), JG Summit Holdings ( 1151), Ayala Corp. (1176), Top Frontier Investment Holdings (1228), Metrobank (1531), Aboitiz Equity Ventures (1793) and Manila Electric Co. (1947).
