House plans to invite Andrew Tan in probe on Resorts World disaster

The House committee on games and amusement is planning to invite Bilyonaryo Andrew Tan to appear in its on-going probe on the Resorts World attack which led to the death of 37 people, including the lone gunman, Jessie Javier Carlos.

“In the future hearings, he (Tan) might also be asked to attend,” said Tambunting during Wednesday’s hearing at the Dignitaries Lounge of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 just in front of the Resorts World casino-hotel complex.

Resorts World Manila is owned by Travellers International Hotel Group Inc., a partnership between Tan’s Alliance Global Inc. and the Genting Group of Malaysia.

Tan runs the casino-hotel through his protege, CEO and President Kingson Uy Shiok Sian, who has been a top officer of Tan’s flagship property firm, Megaworld, since 1995.

Majority Leader Rudy Farinas asked Sian if Tan had visited any of the Resorts World customers who were killed or injured in the June 2 attack as he noted that President Rodrigo Duterte himself had personally attended the funeral of some of the victims.

Sian replied: “He (Tan) just arrived yesterday (June 6). i do not know if he has been to the victims.”

Sian said he has attended the funeral of 25 of the 36 victims and hoped to attend the remaining families soon.
