Gokongwei airline wants to expand presence in Japan

Cebu Pacific Air is urging the government to hold air talks with the Japanese government to allow them to fly to Haneda amid strong market demand.

“We would liketo expand our operations to Japan, we would like to operate to Haneda but right now, we can’t get any allocation or entitlements from the government,” said JR Mantaring, VP for Corporate Communications at Cebu Pacific.

Since the liberalization of air services between Japan and the Philippines in 2013, Cebu Pacific expanded its operations and is now offering four weekly flights from Manila to Nagoya and vice versa, five weekly flights from Manila to Osaka and vice versa, seven weekly flights from Manila to Tokyo (Narita) and four weekly flights from Cebu to Tokyo (Narita).

Bilyonaryo Lucio Tan’s Philippine Airlines is currently the only airline that swrves the Manila-Haneda route with a total of 14 flights per week.

Cebu Pacific flies to over 60 destinations including Bali, Dubai, Beijing, and Sydney.
