Tish explains why Baby Cruz is siding with Andy: It’s about a multi-billion estate and Divina Law

One of the talking points in the unraveling domestic squabble between Commission on Elections Chair Andy Bautista and his wife, Tish, is why her mother, socialite Baby Cruz-Vazquez, would choose her son-in-law over her daughter.

In an interview with ANC’s Karen Davila, Tish admitted that there was a lot of “history” between her and her mother which explained why she did not attend Baby’s wedding to Dr. Danny Vasquez, widower of Ising Madrigal-Vasquez, last year. Andy and their four sons were present. Tish also attributed it to Baby’s “parental fondness” for Andy.

But Tish gave a more practical reason why her mother would take the side of Andy in their ugly separation – Danny’s multi-billion peso estate was managed by Divina Law whose founder, abogado Nilo Divina, is the BFF of Andy.

“Divina law holds my stepfather’s estate which technically at the end of the day, knock on wood, if something were to happen to my stepfather, would end up being my mother’s estate,” Tish said.

“Now if something were to happen to my stepfather, I’m sure my mom feels she will need protection from Andy. Does that explain why she’s on her side,” she added.

In the interview, Tish showed documents she took from Andy that showed a money trail of commissions coming from Divina.

In her affidavit submitted to the National Bureau of Investigation, Tish claimed that Bautista had been getting commissions from Divina while sitting as chair of the Presidential Commission on Good Government from 2010 and Comelec since 2015.

Tish noted that some of Divina’s clients had cases with the PCGG (Baseco and United Coconut Planters Bank) and Comelec (Smartmatic).
