LTFRB suspends Uber for a month

 

The Land Transportation and Regulatory Board on Monday handed out a one month suspension to ride-sharing app Uber for violating its July 26 directive.

“After a thorough and painstaking deliberation, the board is constrained to impose the penalty of one month suspension on the accreditation of the respondent Uber System Inc. and is hereby ordered to cease and desist its operation of online booking application during the period of suspension,” the LTFRB said in an order dated Aug. 14.

Uber was suspended for continuing to accept and activate new drivers in defiance of the LTRFB order last month.

LTFRB said the suspension takes.effect immedìately.

From 66,000 Uber drivers last year, the number has declined to 30,000.

Uber, meanwhile, said it wa studying the suspension order issued by the LTFRB.
