Leandro Leviste plots Solar Philippines’ Southeast Asia expansion

Solar Philippines of Bilyonaryo Leandro Leviste intends to expand beyond its home territory, setting its sights on Southeast Asian countries like Indonesia and Myanmar to put up solar farms.

Leviste said the company is exploring opportunities and participating in biddings in Southeast Asia.

“We believe by next year, we will complete at least 200 megawatts (MW) in Southeast Asia,” he said.

The self-made businessman said the company would focus on countries with off-grid potential to help in the electrification of these nations.

“Within this year, we will complete pilot projects in Indonesia, Myanmar, and perhaps a few more countries with a lot of off-grid potential. In many of these places, international companies do not want to take a bet on rural areas with poor credit,” he said.
