PAL eyes 20M passengers by 2021

Philippines Airlines sees passenger volume increasing to 20 million by 2021 with the expected arrival of new aircraft.

For this year, PAL is forecast to carry 15 million passengers, 12.8 percent higher than the previous year.

PAL president Jaime Bautista said the growth would come from foreign visitors and overseas Filipino workers

“To achieve this, we will grow our fleet from 87 aircraft today to at least 96 by 2021. In doing so, we will phase out 18 older aircraft and take delivery of 27 brand new airplanes,” he said.

Bautista said PAL is taking delivery of two brand new Boeing 777-300ER aircraft later this year which will be used for flights to New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Toronto, Vancouver and London Heathrow.

For next year, the airline will launch the Airbus A350 as its new ultra-long-range flagship, a 295-seater widebody airplane that will help link the Philippines nonstop to New York, Chicago, Seattle and far-flung points in Europe and North America.
