Benjie Sandoval devastated with uncle ‘ Dave’ Consunji’s passing
Benjamin Sandoval is grieving over the death of his uncle David Consunji.
The University of the Philippines director for MBA and MS Finance programs said on Facebook just how much he would miss the DMCI Holdings founder.
Sandoval shared the origin of how he earned the nickname “Bolero” from his tito Dave.
“25 years ago, after dessert in a reunion, my Uncle Dave in his loud voice asked three graduates (me, my cousin Jesse, and my cousin Pong) to get on the podium and tell the entire family what we had learned in school. I’m not really good with impromptu speaking, I need 30 minutes even today. Being the 2nd youngest of my generation, I always had the hard task of talking to older people.
After my Uncle demanded that I speak louder, I began to say ‘I learned that after 5 years in UP, people in the corporate world will simply ask – how are you related to David Consunji?’
At that point, everybody began to laugh. My uncle was laughing too because I think he knew the avalanche of bs that was about to come his way. This was the origin of my uncle calling me “Bolero” for the rest of my adult life. I will miss you, Tito Dave. You are a big part of who I am and who I want to be. #loveualways #devastated,” Sandoval wrote on his Fb post.
Farewell to Bolero’s tito Dave. You will be missed. #
