TransCo seeks independent audit on NGCP’s transmission facilities

The National Transmission Corp. (TransCo) is in talks with four foreign companies to conduct an independent audit on the peformance of the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines.

“There are about four companies. There’s one from Europe, one from Australia, there’s China and another one is Israel. The audit will be a big help because you will see the integrity of all facilities,” TransCo president Melvin Matibag said.

As the owner of the facilities, I just want to look at the integrity of the network. And it can be part of our mandate to make sure the concessionaire is performing their duty under the concession agreement,” he added.

A technical working group will be formed to pursue the audit, which will determine the capacity to use the transmission facilities, particularly of its fiber optics network.

The fiber optics network is being looked at in the country’s national broadband to accelerate the country’s internet to make it at par with first world countries.
