Konnichiwa! Duterte’s economic managers off to Japan to lure investors
President Rodrigo Duterte is sending his economic team to Tokyo, Japan from Sept. 25 to 26 to paint a vibrant picture of the Philippine economy before Japanese investors.
The goal is to discuss ways to “speed up” the rollout of flagship infrastructure projects, some of which will be funded by Japanese grants. This is the third meeting between Filipino and Japanese officials this year.
“We want to discuss with them how we can fasttrack the process of implementing the projects,” Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III said.
Joining Dominguez are Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Ernesto Pernia, Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, Secretaries Benjamin Diokno of the Department of Budget and Management, Arthur Tugade of the Department of Transportation, and Mark Villar of the Department of Public Works and Highways; and Vivencio Dizon, president of the Bases Conversion Development Authority.
