Maybe he was enlightened recently – Malacañang on Salalima resigning due to conflict of interest

Malacanang is adamant that former Information and Communication Secretary Rodolfo Salalima quit his post because of delicadeza.

On why Salalima, a brilliant lawyer, waited 14 months ‎to quit due to conflict of interest, Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella said: “Maybe, revelation. Maybe he was enlightened recently.‎”

‎In a briefing, Abella said Salalima handed his resignation to President Rodrigo Duterte two weeks ago citing “personal and work-related” reasons.

“The keyword there was ‘delicadeza.’ He used to work with another IT company,” Salalima said.

“I think to avoid being misconstrued, and I think he submitted his resignation,” he added

Duterte himself cited “delicadeza” as the reason why his classmate at San Beda Law School decided to quit.

‎Duterte was fully aware that Salalima was a long-tme executive of the Ayala Group, specifically its mobile phone concern Globe Telecom.

Duterte chose him because he felt the 69-year old Salalima’s expertise would help implement his goal to improve communication services in the country.
