Customs guard gets a taste of Lapeña’s one-strike rule

The new Customs chief was dead serious about his threat.

A security guard and two cohorts at the Bureau of Customs (BOC) were arrested on Saturday morning after they were caught commanding cargo shipments at the container yard in Manila.

The BOC said in a statement that security guard Allan Pangkalinawan was seen facilitating the release of shipments at the Manila International Container Port together with two so-called “hao shiaos” who were not supposed to be inside the premises.

Lapeña had them arrested after evidence was shown where the two outsiders were working with Pangkalinawan to get the cargo out. It was then found out that the group is getting P2,000 each per day, but the source is yet to be discovered.

Lapeña started his term in Customs with a one-strike policy, where he said any employee caught in corrupt activities will immediately be relieved and charged with a criminal case.

This must be it.
