These 8 infra projects will be funded by loans from China
Progress on these projects will be the measure of stronger ties between China and the Philippines.
President Rodrigo Duterte’s economic team flew all the way to Beijing to hold a fresh round of talks with Chinese officials for a bilateral dialogue, which is fetching funding for local infrastructure projects.
In particular, eight projects have been committed to be “cooperation” initiatives of the two countries, according to Chinese Commerce Minister Zhong Shang.
the Binondo-Intramuros and Estrella-Pantaleon bridges in Manila;
the Chico River Pump Irrigation Project in Cagayan and Kalinga;
the New Centennial Water Source-Kaliwa Dam Project;
two drug rehabilitation facilities;
the Elevated Expressway in Davao City;
and the construction of an industrial park.
Zhong even said that these meetings need to be prioritized well ahead of Premier Li Keqiang’s visit to Manila in November.
