Cher Tiu’s Slovenian dream come true

Slovenia was a dream destination for Cheryl Tiu ever since she was 18 years old.

The daughter of Highlands co-founder is savouring every moment in Slovenia, discovering their natural wines and unique grapes, exploring Soca River/Kozjak Waterfalls at the Soca Valley.

She shrieks with delight at Frika, a Slovenian “pizza” made from potatoe roesti and four kinds of cheese. She lodges at Hiša Franko, the family home and restaurant of World’s Best Female Chef 2017 Ana Roš and Valter Kramer – where the Ernest Hemingway reportedly wrote his novel, “A Farewell to Arms.”

Happy dreaming, Cher!

Hiša, in Slovenian, means “house,” and Hiša Franko is not only the restaurant of World’s Best Female Chef 2017 Ana Roš and Valter Kramer, but also their family’s home. ❤️ (Built in 1868, Ernest Hemingway was said to have written “A Farewell to Arms” here as well!) • On our 1st night in this beautiful country, we were invited to dine inside Valter’s private wine cellar to try local dishes from the Soca Valley region– say hello to the English roast beef, which is served at their casual Hiša Polonka restaurant in the neighboring city of Kobarid– paired with natural, biodynamic Slovenian wines that Valter handpicked himself.🍷🍷🍷 What a precious experience!🙏🙏🙏 Swipe left for a little tour. 👈 • The “real” Hiša Franko dishes & wines coming soon on my next posts. 😊🤗☺️ #hisafranko #anaros #valterkramer #worlds50best #chefstable #netflix #JRE #socavalley #slovenia #ifeelsLOVEnia #50besttastemaker #cheryltiutravels #cheryltiuslovenia
