Phinma Energy cleared to conduct studies on 5 power projects
Phinma Energy Corp., the power arm of the Del Rosario family, is eyeing to put up five power plants of various technologies.
The Department of Energy (DOE) has allowed Phinma Energy to undertake grid impact studies (GIS) for five projects with almost 1,000 megawatts in capacity.
Three of these projects are gas-fired — the 383-MW Sta. Ana combined cycle gas turbines (CCGT) power plant in Port Irene, Sta. Ana, Cagayan; the 383-MW Sual floating CCGT power plant in Brgy. Baquioen, Sual, Pangasinan; and the 138-MW Argao floating CCGT power plant in Brgy. Bulasa, Argao, Cebu.
The two remaining power projects are renewable energy, which are the 45-MW Bugallon solar power plant in Pangasinan and the 21.6-MW Ilog hydroelectric power plant in Mabinay, Negros Oriental.
GIS is a set of technical studies which are used to assess the possible effects of a proposed expansion, reinforcement, or modification of the grid or a user development and to evaluate significant incidents on the power grid.
