PNR south line set for completion by 2022

A P151 billion railway project that seeks to link Manila to Bicol is targeted to be operational by the second quarter of 2022.

The 581 kilometer South long haul project will run through Laguna, Batangas, Quezon, Camarines Sur, Alabay and Sorsogon.

According to the Department of Transportation, the funding and implementation sctivities are already in place and are ongoing.

“The project is also included in the first basket of projects that will be financed and built with the assistance of China. A memorandum of understanding setting out the scope of China’s assistance for the project is intended to be signed during the ASEAN Summit in November 2017,” DoTr said

DoTr said the loan proceeds would become available under GAA 2018’s unprogrammed appropriations, in addition to the P3 billion that DOTr had already requested for fiscal year 2018.
