Duterte orders dismissal of ERC chairman Jose Vicente Salazar
The Office of the President has ordered the dismissal of suspended Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) chairman and CEO Jose Vicente Salazar.
In a 23-page order, the OP has found Salazar guilty of two counts of simple misconduct and one count of grave misconduct.
The simple misconduct was due to Salazar’s acts of renewing of the electric power purchase agreements between FDC Utilities-Misamis and seven distribution utilities, as well as appointing ERC officers and personnel without the concurrence and approval of the ERC commissioners.
OP said Salazar is guilty of grave misconduct with respect to the matter of procurement of the audio-visual presentation (AVP) project.
“Grave Misconduct is a grave offense punishable by dismissal from the service, which carries with it cancellation of eligibility, perpetual disqualification from holding public office, bar from taking civil service examinations, and forfeiture of retirement benefits,” the OP said.
