MPIC, PNB among big businesses mourning Wash SyCip’s death
A number of listed companies lost an ace in their boards.
News of visionary businessman Washington SyCip, 96, shocked the corporate world on Sunday, Oct. 8, with accolades pouring in for the bookkeeper and business genius pouring in to celebrate his life.
Among those grieving the loss of the philanthropist and mentor are several corporate bigwigs, who made respective disclosures to the Philippine Stock Exchange a day after SyCip’s death.
Manuel V. Pangilinan’s Metro Pacific Investments Corporation and Henry Sy’s Belle Corp. were the first to declare SyCip’s post as independent director vacant following the sad news.
SyCip also served as director in Bilyonaryo Lucio Tan’s Philippine National Bank and MacroAsia Corp., as well as in Cityland Development Corp., Lopez Holdings Corp., and Jollibee Foods Corp.
