DOE expects LNG policy to be out in November

The Department of Energy (DOE) expects to finalize its policy on natural gas next month.

This was triggered by the projected depletion of indigenous natural gas supply from Malampaya by 2024, Energy Secretary Alfonso G. Cusi said.

“By diversifying our energy mix through LNG, we are ensuring a secure and stable supply of energy. This is a priority,” he said.

The DOE is conducting public consultations on the draft Philippine Natural Gas Regulation (PNGR), the policy framework that will guide the development of the natural gas industry in the country.

This policy is aimed at eventually transforming the Philippines as the liquefied natural gas trading and trans-shipment hub in the Asia-Pacific Region.
