EU urges PH to revise building code with energy efficiency measures

The European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) is urging the government to amend the country’s building code as it pushes for energy efficiency initiatives.

ECCP president Guenter Taus said the government should include energy saving and efficiency measures in the building code.

“If you look at energy efficiency, I think in most cases, we don’t really have to look at highly technical solutions. Fundamentally, I would say that one of the first steps that the government must look into is to change the building code,” Taus said.

“This will force people to implement energy saving solutions – properly insulate your buildings, use proper window panes. I think that would be a step in the right direction, towards saving a lot of energy,” he added.
