TransCo to submit charter amendment before Congress goes on recess
The National Transmission Corp. (TransCo) will ask Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi to certify as urgent its push to diversify into telco services.
TransCo president Melvin Matibag said the agency would submit its proposed charter amendment proposal next week.
“I’m hoping that once Congress resumes after recess, our proposal will be tackled immediately. We’ll also write to the secretary, I will request that maybe this could be certified as urgent,” he said.
Matibag said there were at least 10 companies, mostly foreign, that were interested in partnering with TransCo in its planned telco venture.
TransCo’s diversification into telco will help the government with its national broadband plan.
