BIR hits 97% of 2018 revenue target with still 3 months to go

Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Commissioner Caesar Dulay is optimistic of hitting the agency’s P1.829 trillion 2017 collection target this year.

Dulay’s optimism is partly due to the initial outcome for September. “We had a very good month in September. Our growth is…we have 97 percent collection,” he said.

Dulay credited the improving collection from greater cooperation from taxpayers and revamped regional offices.

“They are really working hard,” he told reporters Thursday.

Bureau of the Treasury (BTr) data showed that BIR registered a 9 percent uptick in collections to P1.157 trillion from January to August this year from P1.058 trillion during the same period last year.
