Bounty Fresh sees brighter days ahead for egg industry

A large and growing population promises bright prospects for local egg producers, said poultry integrator Bounty Fresh.

Edwin Chen, managing director of Bounty Farms, said the company would beef up its egg production as it promotes the health benefits of eating eggs.

He noted that Philippine consumption of eggs remains the lowest in Asia at about 100 eggs.

“We want to correct the misconception that eggs are bad for the health because of the cholesterol,” Chen said.

One egg has about 187 milligrams of cholesterol, way below the recommended limit of 300 mg per day.

Bountry Farms currently produces 240 million eggs annually.
