Fernando and Kit Zobel amazed with Kublai Millan’s ‘Kalipayapaan’ art
Kublai Millan’s Kalipayapaan art was a spectacular sight to behold for Fernando and Kit Zobel de Ayala.
The Ayala Corporation president and COO together with his wife were thoroughly impressed with Rey Mudjahid “Kublai” Ponce Millan’s ManilArt Lounge show. “Kalipayapaan” is a play with the words “Kalipay” meaning joy, and “Kapayapaan” which means peace.
“He celebrates an art anchored in the ideals of community solidarity, the process of which is community-based and which ultimately is for the benefit of communities. Here in these four panels, the indigenous Lumad, the Islamized Moro and the Christian descendants of migrant-settlers pull the nets together. Metaphorically projecting the various ways that – through time and space – all Mindanawons have been doing things together, this set challenges all of us to sustain our ancestors’ efforts to seek for the most effective ways of resolving conflicts, deepening communal relationships and collectively transforming society towards sustainable peace!” was the exhibit description statement.
Thank you for your patronage of Mindanawon art, Sir Fernando!
