ERC to decide on 3 Meralco power supply deals soon
Energy Regulatory Commission chief Josefina Magpale-Asirit said the state power regulator is looking to issue a final decision on three out of seven power supply agreements of Manila Electric Co. (Meralco).
These PSAs are with Redondo Peninsula Energy Inc., St. Raphael Power Generation Corp. and Atimonan One Energy Inc., which are all partly owned by Meralco through Meralco Powergen Corp.
“Hopefully, barring any other complications, we should be able to consider a lot of the issues that have been put forth on the applications,” Asirit said.
ERC recently denied motions of consumer rights advocates to dismiss and become intervenors in the hearing of three Meralco PSAs for failure to file within the allowed period.
As intervenors in the case, they are allowed to cross examine the witnesses of Meralco.
But the ERC decided to allow them to become oppositors to the Meralco PSAs.
The PSAs were signed by Meralco and power generating firms on April 29, 2016.
