Mighty 2.0? BIR discovers smuggled cigarettes in Cabanatuan

 

Tax cheats won’t get away from the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR).

Operatives from the BIR and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) discovered 480 mastercases of cigarettes without tax stamps inside a warehouse in Nueva Ecija.

In a statement, the Department of Finance said the raid of Collette’s PX Store and warehouse led to the discovery of illicit cigarettes under the brand names “Two Moon,” “RGD,” “Black Bat,” and “Twin Star,” which did not carry the BIR stamps indicating that its producers paid taxes for its manufacture.

It was only recently when Bulacan cigarette producer Mighty Corp. paid a hefty P25-billion settlement in lieu of facing multiple charges for using fake tax stamps on their products.

Looks like someone didn’t read up!
