Lapeña orders 5-day rule for Customs permits
Less time, less mistakes.
Customs Commissioner Isidro Lapeña wants to fast-track all permits and responses received by the bureau, so he has introduced a five-day rule for all forms of correspondence.
In a statement, Lapeña said there is now a five-day mandatory window to “respond to all clients” covering all bureau employees, as part of his strategy to erase all traces of corruption.
“When there’s delay, there is grease money,” Lapeña said to explain the new rule, noting that the standard waiting time will stop people to look for fixers to facilitate shipments and documents.
