Gatchalians to build multi-billion peso commercial hub along Manila Bay
Waterfront Manila Premier Development Inc. has been tapped by the city government of Manila to undertake the development of the Manila Waterfront City, a commercial district that will rise on a reclaimed land along Manila Bay.
“The coastal configuration of this 318-hectare island is adjusted away from the original Roxas Boulevard shoreline,” GMA News Online quoted WMPD chairman Sergio Ortiz-Luis Jr. as saying.
The project, which is aimed at reclaiming Manila’s old glory, will involve the construction of residential and office buildings, a retail strip, hotels, casinos and and other entertainment facilities, medical censer, government offices, amusement parks, and museums.
It is seen to kick off in 2019 or as soon as WMPD secures the necessary permits from regulatory agencies.
WMPD will be required to submit detailed engineering and geohazard studies and secure an environmental compliance certificate to jumpstart the project.
Manila mayor Joseph Estrada expects the project to change the skyline of Manila and make it at par with the other bustling business districts in the metropolis.
