Napocor beefs up power supply in Camotes Island

State-run National Power Corp. (Napocor) has installed three new 600-kilowatt (kw) generating sets in Power Barge 116 to further power up Camotes Island, Cebu.

The new gensets raised the total available capacity for the island to 4.155 megawatts (MW), enough to meet the peak demand of 2.469 MW with a reserve capacity of 1.686 MW.

Napocor said that the additional power supply will boost major industries in the island like fishing, farming and tourism. Camotes Island is known for its namesake root crop kamote or sweet potato, white sand beaches and caves.
