Lapeña puts all Customs docs processing online

The suki system will be a thing of the past under his watch.

Customs Commissioner Isidro Lapeña has abolished the Formal Entry Division, to be replaced by a computerized Status Verification System.

This program is on pilot run at the Port of Manila before it will be rolled out across all ports nationwide.

Any importer can track the status of import documents as well as processing times, which will replace 15 sections under the current system.

“The collusion between and among the stakeholders and customs employees can be prevented due to lesser face to face transaction,” the bureau said in a statement.

This will be implemented by November.
