Galanteng Gokongwei: Duterte spills how Cebu Pacific shouldered plane tickets for Marawi troops

President Rodrigo Duterte revealed that his first choice Finance Secretary, bilyonaryo Lance Gokongwei, gave free tickets to Hong Kong to Marawi’s female troops.

In a briefing in Davao City Tuesday night, Duterte was asked when he would fulfill his promise last September to send the female troops at the frontline of the Marawi on an all-expense paid trip to Hong Kong.

Duterte said said: “You know, this is what really happened. Somebody, but sabihin ko na lang, and it should really be made public.”

“It was Cebu Pacific who answered for… Nung nalaman niya (Gokongwei) na… na sabi ko, sabi niya, ‘Sige, ako na lang ang — iyo na lang ang baon pati hotel’,” he added.

Duterte said that he only took took with him 17 company commanders from Marawi with him on his trip to Japan.

He said the ladies went to Hong Kong before he flew to Japan Monday.

“Nandoon na sila. Ano ka man. Nauna pa sa amin. For ladies lang ’yun. A chance to visit Hong Kong for those who have not been there,” he said.

Duterte said he brought the Marawi commanders with him to Japan to relax after a five-month long war.

” I just invited them to — for a respite. Eh hindi nila kailangan punta ng Hong Kong kasama ‘yung mga babae. Naloko na. Wala man sila mag gawain doon,” he joked.

“But itong sila, I just brought them to unwind. At least may ano… may ano sila, panahon mag sight-seeing,” he added.

Last July, Cebu Pacific Air provide airlift support to military and police personnel wounded in action in Marawi City, including baggage allowance of up to 40 kilograms.
