Dominguez to visit Jack Ma in China for more e-commerce hacks
The Finance chief wants to learn the tricks of the trade from this grandmaster.
Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III said he is planning to visit bilyonaryo Jack Ma in China next year, with the hopes of gaining more insider knowledge as to how the Philippines can scale up e-commerce solutions, straight from the Alibaba Group’s success story.
Dominguez told Ma of such plans during their meeting in Malacañang, where the Chinese billionaire paid a courtesy visit to President Rodrigo Duterte after receiving his honorary degree at the De La Salle University in Manila.
“We are planning to visit him. He invited us to have further discussions in China. We will visit him probably in January with Central Bank (officials). We’ll review the regulatory environment here so that we don’t have regulations that choke the growth of e-commerce,” Dominguez said in a statement.
The Cabinet official wants to mimic Ma’s “3-1-0” program, which allows Chinese businessmen to borrow up to $5,000 online within a three-minutes processing time and one minute fund transfer with zero human contact.
What a novel idea!
