DOF counting on digitization to make PH business-friendly

Going online appears to be the solution for businesses transacting with government.

The Department of Finance (DOF) said they will employ digital technology to lift the Philippines’ scores on the World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business report.

The solutions being eyed by the DOF as proposed by technology modernization architect Dr. Dennis Reyes include the TradeNet platform for traders, the establishment of the Philippine Business Data Bank down to the local government level, and a modernization within the agency to include the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) and Customs.

These platforms are expected to simplify business permit systems across government agencies and local government units, which will then make it more attractive for companies to operate across the country.

Such changes are also expected to trim red tape with little human contact.
