It’s official: William Whang is now China Bank president
His three decades in the industry will help shape this bank’s way forward.
William Whang has risen as president of China Banking Corp. (China Bank) effective Nov. 1, 2017 after he inherited the post from the retiring Ricardo Chua, the bank said in a disclosure.
Prior to assuming the top post, Whang sat as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the bank on his sixth year of working for bilyonaryo Henry Sy. He previously headed the Institutional Banking Group and the Lending Business Segment, where he honed his skills on both the corporate and consumer lending sectors.
“I am profoundly grateful to the China Bank Board of Directors for their trust and confidence in giving me the privilege to assume this very challenging role as president,” Whang said in a statement.
“My task is to lead our management team to build on the strengths of such a storied legacy, and bring China Bank to the next level and the next 100 years of its history.”
Whang will be heading China Bank ahead of their 100th anniversary come 2020. It’s a grand duty!
