La Carlota Gov’t suspends Roxol Bioenergy operations
The Office of La Carlota City Mayor Luis Jalandoni III of Negros Occidental has shut down the bieothanol plant of Roxol Bioenergy Corp., the bioethanol subsidiary of Roxas Holdings Inc. for failure to take the necessary measures to mitigate emission of foul door.
Roxas Holdings, which is partly owned by HOng Kong-based conglomerate First Pacific Co., furnished the stock exchange a copy of the cease-and-desist order, which may be accordingly lifted at any time should it comply in good faith with its permanent comprehensive pollution control program and plan of actions.
The foul door emanated from the ethanol plant wastewater treatment pond which may seriously compromise the health as well as the general welfare of the residents of La Carlota City.
Roxas Holdings’ ethanol business suffered a slowdown in the second quarter due to needed repairs.
