Globe now gets 53% of revenues from data services


Globe Telecom Inc. reported a six percent rise in data-related revenues to P51 billion in the nine months to September, driven by thru robust growth in its mobile data business.

Mobile data revenues grew 20 percent to P31.3 billion owing to higher data usage and the continued growth in smartphone penetration. This comprised 43 percent of total mobile revenues of P73.1 billion.

Globe said mobile data traffic jumped 73 percent to 430 petabytes.

Revenues from the home broadband business amounted to P11.7 billion, up eight percent amid strong demand for fast and reliable internet access. Home broadband customer base reached 1.26 million at the end of September.

Corporate data revenue, meanwhile, inched up four percent to P7.6 billion due to increasing demand for data connectivity, managed service solutions and cloud-based services that resulted in the acceleration of its customer base and circuit count.

“With the company’s continued efforts to enhance our network’s data capacities, with the aim of providing a differentiated customer experience, we expect out data segments to drive revenue growth momentum moving forward,” said Ernest Cu, president and CEO of Globe.
