PDIC pays P131M to clients of a shuttered CamSur bank

Depositors of this fallen lender can now rest assured.

The Philippine Deposit Insurance Corporation (PDIC) has paid P131.2 million to depositors of the Rural Bank of Goa (Camarines Sur), Inc. as of end-September, which comes after the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas issued a closure order for the lender.

In a statement, the PDIC said the amount returned is 90.7% of the P144.6 million in insured deposits held by the provincial bank.

The deposit payments benefited 2,065 account holders, with the bulk going to those with balances above P100,000.

The PDIC has been working to fast-track deposit returns after it assumed as receiver of the closed bank.
