Thank you, Isaac Go: MVP says Ateneo would’ve been scarred for life if they lost to FEU

Bilyonaryo Manny V. Pangilinan probably heaved the biggest sigh of relief among the Blue Eagles’ faithful after Ateneo escaped with an 88-84 overtime victory over the gutsy FEU Tamaraws of the Montinola family.

“ Must win game for Ateneo. Relieved we won. If we lost – our 3rd straight – could have left an indelible scar on the team. Win today redeems team spirit, fortifies character, prepares them for the finals,” said Pangilinan in a tweet after the game.

Pangilanan has to thank Blue Eagles coach Tab Baldwin for keeping the faith in his big man, Isaac Go, who buried the triple which sent the game to overtime and the “Isaac Go on the floor” bank shot which pushed the lead beyond the Tamaraws’ reach.

Pangilinan, who is still celebrating his San Beda Red Lions’ back-to-back championship in the NCAA last week, is looking forward to what promises to be another titanic clash between the Ateneo and De La Salle in the UAAP finals.

We just don’t know if his winning college basketball teams would more than compensate for the lack of hardware from his PBA teams (the last time his teams won something in the PBA was two years ago).
