Gov’t puts railway projects on fast track
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has vowed to fast track its various railway projects under the Philippine National Railways to meet people’s growing transport needs and support the country’s industrial development.
Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade challenged the PNR to help realize the DOTr’s target to build more rail networks nationwide and increase the current 77 kilometers to 1,900 kilometers of rails.
Among the projects in the pipeline are the PNR North (Manila to Clark), PNR South (Manila- Los Baños – Bicol), the Mindanao Railway project, and the Subic-Clark Cargo Railway.
Tugade also urged PNR management to streamline business processes and reduce the processing time of transactions.
