Yay or nay? Netizens weigh in on silver P5 coins
Why the change in color?
Social media was abuzz on Wednesday, Nov. 29 after the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) released the new design of the five-peso coins which will feature Gat. Andres Bonifacio and will now come in silver. This is a departure from the current gold shade carrying the profile of former President and General Emilio Aguinaldo.
Some were quick to comment on the new designs which were on the minimalist side, but noted that the new shade could cause confusion among denominations.
Oha oha, Silver na din ang 5 https://t.co/9AIxK1vdqx

Coin collectors were particularly excited with the new designs, as they would have something new to watch out for.
The more patriotic ones saw the new design as an assertion of Bonifacio’s supremacy over Aguinaldo.
Hahahaha so justice served na talaga. Si Andres Bonifacio na sa bagong P5 coin at di na si Emilio Aguinaldo. 😂

Bonifacio is known as the “Father of the Philippine Revolution.”
